Start of the beginning

The wind was blowing gently and a cool breeze along with it. People were moving about in their daily lives, some shopping, some playing with Pokémon and some having battles. However one male stood out from the rest, he was not a regular to these parts and he had only been on this land for a few hours.

Marv walked through the small crowd of people as he made his way to the Verda bridge. He had just come from the Pokémon Lab where he obtained a Golett who he suddenly realized he had not introduced himself to.

Looking around for a quiet spot to meet his Golett at, he noticed a small patch of trees and so made his way over. Once he reached the area he picked the Poke'ball off his belt and stared down at the item, "Time to get acquainted, come on out Golett." he said and pressed the small button in the middle of the ball and watched as Golett appeared before him.

<Hey, where am I? This isn't the Lab!> Golett said and then looked over at Marvsta, <Ohh and not to be rude, but who are you?> the Pokémon added.

Marvsta smiled and extended his hand to Golett, "Indeed this is not the Lab, we are not far from the Verda Bridge. as for who I am, my name is Marvsta Xeron and I am your new trainer." he said.

Golett looked at Marv and then looked along the path, <Verda Bridge? Trainer? Wow I was wondering when I might get a chance to leave the Lab. I have heard many stories of places far and wide while I was in the Lab> Golett said excitedly and shook Marv's hand.

"Golett, I am glad you are so excited about this and I for sure am excited to have you as my partner. I must tell you though, before we get to far ahead of ourselves. I am a Type 5 PokeMorph and can change my appearance to look like an Arcanine or have thick patches of black hair grow along my body representing an Arcanine's stripes." Marv looked at Golett and hoped he knew what a PokeMorph was and that it didn't freak him out.

<A PokeMorph? Huh I heard the People at the Lab speak of them. Alexander was doing research on them in fact. I remember it quite clearly, I have an extraordinarily good memory you know> Golett replied and held an arm up being proud of himself for his knowledge.

"Ahh that is good that you know of them then. I will show you my Arcanine form once we are out of the main dock area. Ohh and how would you like a nickname? Instead of just being called Golett all the time?"

<Ohh I would love to see that! Ohh and a nickname? For me? Really?> Golett choked up on his words.

Marvsta laughed slightly at Golett's reaction, "Yes a nickname for you. I was thinking along the lines of Tralgor, unless you had a name you would prefer?" he said.

[color=Purple<Tralgor? Sounds like a unique name. I like it!>

[/color] Tralgor replied happily and started to jump around.

Marv smiled as he realized he had made an excellent choice, both in nickname and partner. "Okay Tralgor lets keep moving and lets find out as much of this land as possible!" Marv said as he joined Tralgor in jumping around before they both stopped and headed on down the road again.[/size][/center]

(would you like me to offer critiques for you as we go? i like to offer advice to folks when i roleplay with them, and you've already shown yourself pretty responsive to crits, but if you'd rather not then i can refrain. c: just figured i'd ask right off the bat!)

+Target sighted.+

Red-and-yellow eyes glinted from behind a bush near the entrance to the walkway under the Verda Bridge. A Poochyena was watching Marv and the Golett as they progressed, and whenever they got too far, the pup would bolt quietly from behind one bit of cover to another. He was stalking his prey, a vicious hunter drawn by the desire to kill.

Or, y'know, to faint 'em and stuff. Killing was for when he got older. He'd lost his mom, but he remembered her training, and knew that soon he'd have to follow in her footsteps as the Terror of Verda. She had been the most feared creature in the area, once; she'd stricken fear into the hearts of Pok?mon and locals alike. He would be just like her. He had to keep her alive somehow, in memory and in legacy, even though she was gone now.

Just a little closer... Closer...

He had managed to get within perhaps ten feet of the trainer and his Pok?mon before deciding this was close enough. Letting out a fierce Howl to pump himself up, he launched at Tralgor with his mouth wide open and dripping with venom. He moved fast, and had closed in on the pair in nary a second. He snapped his jaws at the Golett, and if the Poison Fang landed, there was a great chance Tralgor would get a bad case of poisoning, one that would get worse progressively if not treated. After a few seconds of biting, biting, viciously biting, the Poochyena hopped back and barked. He let his tongue loll out of his mouth so that the poison could drain.

Marv and Tralgor walked along as they approached the Verda Bridge. Both had remained silent since they had finished jumping around beneath the trees however it was not an awkward silence. No, it was more a silence of respect for each other even though they had just met.

Marv was thinking about his home and remembering the missions he had been sent out on when he was being controlled. Tralgor was thinking about the Lab and how different the world was, <Hey Marv, why did you pick me?> Tralgor suddenly asked which snapped Marv out of his thoughts. "Well Tralgor, your a breed of an older generation of Pok?mon, there are many mysteries to the Golett and Golurk ties to history of Pokémon. I was hoping we might be able to uncover some of that during our journey" Marv replied. <No I mean why did you pick me specifically. I know you were presented with two other Golett, so why me?>.

Marv stopped walking, unaware that he and Tralgor were being followed, "I picked you over the other two because I felt we would get along better then I would with one of the others. Also your memory will allow you to appreciate this journey much more then the others." he said just as he noticed a movement behind Tralgor and suddenly a Poochyena was upon them.

"Tralgor look out!" Marv tried to warn. Unsure of what Marv was suddenly so worried about, Tralgor turned around just in time as the Poochyena launched at him. Raising his arm up, Tralgor was bitten on one of the "shields" that covered his arms. <Terror of Verda huh? Never heard of you> Tralgor said as he examined his arm from the bite.

"Tralgor are you okay?" Marv asked as he moved up next to his Pok?mon, "Hey Poochyena what's your problem huh? Jumping out with a sneak attack like that, why don't you fight with honor instead of cowardliness!" he called out and stared at the Poochyena.

[ZOM]

(nah, i don't need to. if you'd rather i don't then i won't! :> )

Although the pup didn't show it, he was aching a little from the bite to the hard armor on Tralgor's arm. He had a strong jaw and it was probably more likely to dent the armor than to result in hurt fangs, but it still left a twang of pain in his mouth. No time for pain, though. He was the Terror of Verda. The Terror didn't feel pain. He inflicted it.

+I'm no coward!+ he protested with a snarl. +I am a hunter! And I'm here to renew my legacy as the most feared Pok?mon on the bridge! You're just a stepping stone.+

With that, he let out another Howl; he could feel energy and power course through him as the noise split the air. He made a cackling sound as he lunged at Tralgor again with another Poison Fang. He was going to make this work; if he could hit a soft spot, then the venom could get through and slow the Golett down big-time. He had to succeed! He had to destroy, he had to win! In a burst of quick thinking, he aimed for one of the ghost-type's fists. He could make it hard for Tralgor's punching attacks to work and inject some venom. His mother would have been so proud.

Tralgor again examined his arm before looking over at the Poochyena, <A good hunter would know when they can actually take on their target. You're just attacking out of stupidity!> Tralgor called out. Marv looked from Tralgor's arm to the Poochyena "Alright then if it's a fight you want it's a fight you shall get!" he yelled before taking a few steps back to watch the fight.

As the Poochyena Howled again Marv watched the small pup Pokémon trying to analyze it's next move. Noticing that it's teeth where starting to drip with a substance, he was sure it was another Poison Fang attack but he could have been wrong. Either way, he was not about to let Tralgor take another direct attack.

"Tralgor use Defense Curl and then use Pound!" he commanded. Tralgor jumped slightly as he rolled into a ball to raise his Defense. Feeling the scratching of the Poochyena's Teeth against him Tralgor leaped up and uncurled before aiming himself and coming down with a Pound attack.

[ZOM]

Hmph. His enemy was bolstering its defenses, and that was annoying. Still... nothing a few Howls wouldn't balance out. He felt stronger than ever, and making a whole bunch of scary noise made him feel even stronger! He was readying himself to let out another Howl, a real big one, something to get him totally pumped; however, before he could release the sound, Tralgor slammed against him with a Pound attack. The wind was knocked out of him for a moment, and he gasped and wheezed on the ground, recovering. When he could speak again, it was hardly with as much gusto as before: +Y-you... Nice try! But... not nice... enough!+

Despite his harsh words, he could barely get to his feet after catching his breath. He managed to stand up, but he was wobbling and looking, well, pretty pathetic. +Doesn't matter, I'm gonna... gonna win! I'm the... the Terror... of Verda...!+ Making a feeble whining sound that might have been an unsuccessful attempt at a Howl, the Poochyena stumbled in Tralgor's direction. He seemed to be using... Tackle? It was no good, of course; the pup stumbled straight through the ghost. +Darn... darn... darn it...!+

Apparently, the "Terror of Verda" was more bark than bite.

The fight seemed to be over already, but... +RUFFIANS!!+ A blur of blue, surrounded by a surge of water, blasted into the area. As it got closer, it became apparent that the one responsible was a Marill, and it seemed to be using Aqua Jet; it was moving with ridiculous speed, headed straight for Tralgor. +Both of you, both of you! I'M TAKING YOU DOWNTOWN!+ When she was within striking distance of the ghost, she began to spin very quickly, swinging her tail like a flail. She was combining her Aqua Jet attack with a Tail Whip attack -- and the Poochyena was still close enough to get hit, too.

The pup was launched backwards, hitting the ground hard and whining. He was still conscious, and he was rolling around as he whimpered and complained about how everything hurt, but he didn't seem inclined to battle anymore. This ridiculous souped-up Marill, on the other hand, was rarin' to go. +I will not tolerate rabble-rousers on this bridge! I appreciate you taking this punk down, but... that doesn't mean you're exempt! Rules are rules, and battling is against the rules! Wanna fight about it?!+ She leaned in close to Tralgor, glowering at him ferociously. Hypocritical or not, she looked all too willing to rough him and Marv up as necessary.

Tralgor stood up, slightly hurt from the impact of his Pound on the Poochyena. He was glad the Pound had hit but next time, he wouldn't jump up so high for the attack, that hurt! Standing and regaining his balance he turned at looked at the Poochyena <It was good enough> he replied and stared at the pup Pok?mon.

Marv was watching from a few meters away and punched his fist into the air as the Pound landed, "Great work Tralgor! That was awesome!" he started laughing and felt his arms and legs start to tingle as Black Hair started to grow in spirals along them. Also his face started to grow hair coming from the side of his face curving down to his mouth. The excitement and thrill of the battle was enticing his PokeMorph form to appear.

"Hey Tralgor be ready for a counter attack from Poochyena!" he called out. Tralgor stood his ground and waved a hand at Marv to show he had heard. Not shifting his focus from the Poochyena he laughed as it spoke <Your not a Terror. Confused and Angry perhaps, but not a Terror> as Tralgor spoke his voice got softer. He suddenly got ready to defend himself as the Poochyena stumbled towards him, however as it neared it was obvious it was weakened. Feeling the pup go through him and turned around to look at the weakened Pok?mon.

Marv was still watching and as he noticed the Poochyena fall, he picked a Poke'ball from his belt. Raising his arm back over his head, he prepared to throw the Pokeball in an attempt to capture the Poochyena but stopped as a new voice arose. Looking around to see who or what had spoken he took a few steps back as he noticed the jet of water.

Tralgor turned as he also heard the voice however as he turned, he was hit hard by the Aqua Jet and was knocked down hard. <Ngh! Another one that attacks out of nowhere?> Tralgor sighed as he slowly stood up and looked at the Marill <Ruffians? Downtown? What are you on about Marill? This Poochyena attacked me out of nowhere, I was simply defending myself from him. Now please, out of the way so myself and Marv can move through.>

Marv walked over to Tralgor after he was hit, his four legs made it easier for him to move and he was there in a split second. "Tralgor are you alright?" he asked before turning and looking at the Marill, "You say rules are rules and you don't allow fighting. However you just challenged us. You are breaking your own rules which in turn means you should be fighting yourself! Now let us pass!" he said in a slightly more husky voice that came from him being in his Arcanine Morph Form.

Tralgor nodded and looked at Marv as he approached <Yeah I'm fine I was just surprised... HEY WAIT A MINUTE! I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO SHOW ME THIS AFTER WE WERE PAST HERE?> he cried out.

Marv just looked at Tralgor with a nod then stared back at the Marill awaiting a response.

[ZOM]

Marv's logic didn't seem to be getting through to the Marill. She made an indignant little sound and scowled. +I'm enforcing the rules, I'm allowed! As an enforcer, I can do what needs to be done to protect order. And you're a bunch of trouble-making punks!+ She puffed up in anger. +It grinds my gears, you know?! All I want is a little peace around here, but you trainers and this little pest--+ Here she gestured towards the Poochyena with a scoffing noise, +--keep stirring up a fuss! So here I am enforcing the rules as they should be enforced, not that anyone else bothers, and you're telling me to let you pass! Nope, not gonna happen! Give me one good reason to let you go instead of taking you in to face the law!+

It seemed like she wasn't going to attack quite yet, but she was certainly irate.

Meanwhile, the self-proclaimed "Terror of Verda" was trying to pull himself together. He was having a hard time of it; despite being a little more seasoned than Tralgor and trained by his infamous mother before her passing, the Poochyena was, admittedly, not very good at battling. He certainly couldn't take a hit. He was pathetic, wasn't he? He was a terrible Terror, and not in the way he would have wanted. His mother was probably frowning down at him... Whimpering, the dark-type managed to sit up, although he looked a mess and felt it too.

What was wrong with him? Taken down in one hit by a stupid ghost rock thing, then smacked down again by a cop (or so she liked to call herself, anyway) before he could recover from the first blow to his ego. +I'm just a loser,+ he murmured to himself, staring at the ground with a forlorn expression on his face.

This drew the attention of the Marill, who turned to him, still frowning. +That's right!+ she exclaimed. +If you'd stop causing trouble, making you'd be less of a loser. As it is, I'm gonna have to take all of you in. So... follow me nice and easy to do your hard time!+ She flapped her arms first at the Poochyena, then at Tralgor and Marvsta.

Marv sighed and felt his body contort back to his Human Form as the excitement of the battle wore off "I gotta get in control of that" he thought to himself before looking at the Marill. Realizing that the Marill either didn't know, or didn't want to know what he said was true, he tried one more time. "Marill, you want peace yet your demanding a fight. A fight in the very area you say battling is banned. YOU are the one disobeying the law, not us. Tralgor and I didn't even know the supposed law till you showed up."

Tralgor nodded in agreement <As for the reason, well as Marv said you yourself are breaking the law so if you take us in then we will report you for also breaking the law. You should have challenged us off the bridge but you didn't. You made that choice so are you prepared to be locked away?>

Marv looked at Tralgor as he spoke and a smile crossed his face at the great choice of words his Pokmeon used. As they spoke with the Marill the two companies noticed the Poochyena start to sit up. They kept watching it and then heard what it said and then suddenly "You are not a loser!" Tralgor and Marv called out at the same time.

Marv walked over to the Poochyena and knelt down beside it "Poochyena your not a loser you are a strong Pokémon. I didn't expect the first Pokémon I battled to know a move like Poison Fang or have such an amazing Howl like yourself. You should be proud. Don't feel bad about losing, Tralgor weighs a fair bit.. he looks at Tralgor "No offense intended buddy" turning back to the Poochyena "You just got unlucky this time, that's all." he reached out to pat the pup Pokémon.

Tralgor looked down at the Marill and spoke on behalf of Marv and himself, <Your joking right? Sorry Marill but we haven't done anything wrong so we are not going anywhere>

[ZOM]

The Marill sighed in exasperation. These punks just didn't get it, did they? She was about to exclaim something about resisting arrest and how it didn't matter if they didn't know the law, they still broke it; however, Marv seemed to get distracted before she could say anything. Hmph. Whatever.

+H-huh?+ The Poochyena glanced up, wide-eyed, at the vehement insistence that he wasn't a loser. +Really? You... you think my Howl is amazing?+ He looked as though he was about to cry; he felt so sure that he was a wimp, that he would never live up to his mother's memory, but... maybe this human was right. Maybe he was strong. He just... got unlucky. Yeah. He just needed more training, that was all! Yeah!

He pushed himself to his feet, tears streaking his fur as he bore all his teeth at the Marill in a grin. +I-I'm not a loser! I'm the Terror of Verda-- and you can't stop me!+ Howling, he lunged at the water-type, who released a startled squeak as the pup sunk his fangs into her. His teeth dripped with venom from a Poison Fang attack, and though the Marill managed to wriggle out of his grip after a few seconds, it became very clear that she had been poisoned; she wobbled a little and was perpetually wincing. Cackling, the Poochyena bolted away, his energy temporarily regained with the help of a good Howl and some adrenaline. +This isn't the last you'll see of me!+ he announced as he escaped.

He was fast, and would be tough to pursue for the poisoned Marill, which she was well aware of. Even her Aqua Jet might not be enough. Scowling and wincing, she decided that it was well within her rights as an enforcer of the law to take out her anger on these rule-breaking punks. Even if they hadn't done as much as that Poochyena... they were there, and they'd fought with him a little bit, so good enough. +You... you...!+

Knowing she was already vulnerable, the water mouse balled up into a Defense Curl, bolstering her armor a little. Then, releasing a shrieking battle cry, she bounced at Tralgor with shocking speed. Another Aqua Jet, but this time, she was protecting her own defense instead of wrecking his.

"Yeah I honestly think your Howl is amazing. I've seen larger Pok?mon with a weaker Howl then you do. You should be proud of it!" Marv smiled as he noticed the spirits of the Poochyena rising. He stood up as the Poochyena did and watched as it lunged at the Marill "That's right your not weak or a loser!" he called out with a cheer.

Walking over to Tralgor as the Poochyena disappeared the two of them looked at the Marill "Looks like it's just us now. You still wanna go through with this?" before he got an answer however the Marill made an attack.

Jumping backwards to be out of the fight he landed with barely a noise and turned his focus onto the battle. <Marill you will not defeat me, you understand!> Tralgor called out and took his stance awaiting instructions from Marv.

"Okay Tralgor use Mad-slap as a distraction then use Astonish!" Marv called out quickly as the Marill was closing in on Tralgor with some intense speed. Tralgor started to fling mud at the Marill as he moved in a circular motion before running in, screaming and making a lot of noise as he pulled his arm back and swung it at the Marill. If it hit, he might just have a chance of flinching the little brat.

[ZOM]

How obnoxious--! The Golett was kicking all kinds of mud and dirt into the air, and that proved to be quite a distraction for the Marill, who scowled and squinted to see through the dust. Her eyes popped open wide at the sudden screaming coming from Tralgor, though. +Aiee!+ She was smacked square between the eyes, and while it didn't hurt too badly between her Defense Curl and the relative weakness of the move itself, she was startled enough that she couldn't move for a moment. She simply rolled backwards, curling her tail around herself protectively and shuddering.

She could feel the poison in her veins, seeping through her, becoming stronger. She felt feverish, and in pain, and it was awful. That stupid mutt... oh, he'd... he'd face the law yet, mark her words! Despite her anger, she knew this poison would be enough to knock her out cold soon enough, and she wouldn't be up to doing much at all before getting some rest. If only she had a berry to heal herself with... Wishful thinking. No, for now, she had to tough it out and try to take this punk down with her. The "Terror" could wait. All in due time.

For now... she had to take things one step at a time. Beat the Golett, then rest, then pursue that Poochyena riffraff. The first step, before beating the Golett, was to catch her breath. She'd fight back in a minute.

A smirk crossed the mouth of Marv as the Astonish hit it's mark. He knew Tralgor couldn't take many more Aqua Jet hit's so he decided to try and end it right now. "Okay Tralgor time to use Pound on this Marill!" he called out with enthusiasm.

Tralgor raised his arms in a sort of cheer, kind of like how Roman Soldiers would back in the time of Gladiators, only Tralgor didn't have a Sword, Spear or Axe... No his body was his weapon and shield! He lowered his arms and stared at the Marill before taking a few steps back and then running as fast as he could. As he neared he took a leap into the air and aimed himself at the Marill <This fight is over!> he declared as he started to come down.

Marv watched on from his spot and was surprised but just how fast and how high Tralgor could move for his size, he had jumped at least 6 feet in the air he estimated which was about 3 feet high then he had expected. "This Marill is stubborn and tough, should I catch it though when this is all over? Should I let it leave and go after that Poochyena? Decisions, decisions, decisions... Always annoying to make! Marv thought to himself

[ZOM]

Over? The fight wasn't over. It wasn't close to over; the Marill wouldn't go down without a fight, not if she could help it. She opened her eyes and shrieked angrily, rolling out of the way just in the nick of time to dodge Tralgor's attack. She could tell this pair was fresh from the lab, and she knew she was stronger, more experienced. If not for the poison, she would beat the Golett easily. Things were equalized a little now, but there was not a single chance she'd allow herself to lose so soon, if at all.

+Keep dreaming, you ruffian!+ She was back on her feet, panting a little, and for a moment she had the advantage; Tralgor surely had hit the ground hard and would need at least a second to recover. That was all the time she needed. Forming a Defense Curl to protect herself, she bounced off the ground and rocketed towards her opponent with yet another Aqua Jet. She'd prolong this fight for as long as she needed to, and since she had the type advantage, she felt pretty sure she could win -- if she kept bolstering her defenses and hammering away at the stupid ghost.

She didn't battle often, except in self-defense or the name of the law, but when she did, she fought tooth-and-nail to at least claw her opponent down with her if she had to fall.

"Nice try Tralgor, you'll get him next time I know it!" Vincent called out as he watched Tralgor narrowly missed the Marill. He was about to call out another command as he noticed that Tralgor had fallen onto his back and was having trouble getting up. "Come on Tralgor you gotta get up buddy!" he called out with urgency.

Tralgor struggled to get onto his side so he could stand up and looked over at the Marill who had now gotten to her feet <Ohh boy this won't tickle.> he said to himself as he kept trying to get up. Marv dropped his bag from his back, opening it quickly and dug into it, eventually pulling out a Potion before zipping the bag up and leaving it at his feet.

"Tralgor use Defense Curl!" he called out as he realized the Marill was zeroing in with an Aqua Jet attack. Tralgor looked over as the Marill closed in on him and before he was able to curl up, the Marill hit into him which sent him rolling along the ground.

Marv quickly rushed over as Tralgor as he struggled onto his hands and knees "Tralgor here this will help, it's a Potion and will heal you a bit" he said quickly and sprayed it over Tralgors wounds that started to heal. The two of them stood up slowly as Tralgor was still noticeably weakened from the attack even with the help of the Potion.

Marv stood next to Tralgor as he healed and let him rest so the Potion could take it's full effect hopefully before the Marill next attacked.
