Key Information Name: Alice Emilia Ronette Nickname: Al, Ronnie Status: Human Age: 18 Gender: Female
Appearance:
Alice has always favored her father's side of the family in terms of appearance, her skin fair and lightly freckled, her build slender and willowy. Like her father, her hair is a fair gold, almost white during the summer and just barely tinted in the winter. Alice does, however, have her mother's eyes. Large, dark brown, and framed by long lashes, they're often heavily lidded and glazed over, as if Alice's mind is constantly wandering. Rarely seen without a dreamy smile, Alice has a friendly face. She does bruise easily, and her knees and arms are often covered with spots from innocent bumps and falls.
When it comes to clothing Alice almost always sticks to the same simple formula. She wears long, flowing skirts made of lightweight material, leggings, a light blouse and ballet slippers. During cooler weather, she might throw on a warm sweater or jacket, a hand made scarf and mittens, and her thick boots gifted to her by her uncle. A worn leather satchel is never far from her side, filled with traveling necessities as well as her sketching supplies. Alice travels predominately by bike, a yellow ten-speed given to her three years ago by a family friend.
Personality:
Alice is, before anything else, a dreamer. As a young child her mother would at times lose sight of her, only to find the young girl laying on her stomach in the garden, hidden by the weeds, and staring intently at a small flower as though it were telling the most fascinating story. Likely this is a side affect of her being a sickly child. She was often bound indoors, unable to run and play with the other children. As a result Alice loved to laze about and do nothing, letting her mind wander as her body never could.
Despite her family living in the middle of the woods, far from any other people, Alice is incredibly friendly, almost naively so. She has honestly never hated anyone in her entire life, and will forgive a fault at the first sign of remorse. The only action that might spark her temper is abuse to Pok?mon, and Alice is a firm believer that even bad people can change and do good things if they try. She's very trusting and has seen very little of the darkness in the world. Despite this, she's actually a very clever young woman, and incredibly intelligent (because of her illness most of her childhood was spent reading and learning from a hired tutor).
History:
Alice Emilia Ronette was born to Anelia and Joseph Ronette during a stormy April night in the heart of Hoenn. Anelia and Joseph had met several years before at the marketplace in Slateport. Joseph, a sailor, had fallen in love at first sight with the young woman selling medicinal herbs in the market. Anelia had taken a bit of convincing, but soon she too was smitten with the handsome sailor, and the two were wed. Alice was their third attempt at a child, the two previous infants both dying either prenatally or shortly after birth. The birth was a difficult one, but both mother and child were able to pull through. However, Alice's lungs were very weak, and the doctor did not have high hopes for her.
Desperate to not lose another child, Joseph went out to search of medicine to heal his sickly child. He was gone a year and a half, and when he returned, he would speak not a word of where he had been or what had happened. He only would say that they had been blessed and that Alice would surely make it. Anelia was skeptic, but true to his word slowly Alice began to grow stronger, until at last she appeared like any other toddler. If she overexerted herself, however, her lungs would begin to spasm and she would wheeze terribly. Because of this, Alice was never allowed far from her parents sight.
Still, Alice did not have a lonely childhood. Her friends were all only a page turn away, drawing from the huge library in the attic of the Ronette's cottage. She also had both her mother and father's Pok?mon as company, who all were very gentle and protective of her. At times her father's sailor friends would visit, bring with their own sons or daughters for her to play with, and though the visits were rare, Alice enjoyed them immensely.
When Alice was fifteen, she convinced her parents to allow her to venture of on her own Pok?mon journey. However, only a week in, she suffered a major bronchial attack that left her hospitalized for nine days. Terrified, her parents forbade her from leaving home again. Now, at eighteen, she has convinced them to allow her to try again. It was Joseph that suggested Solastella, believing the island territories would have fresher air that would benefit his daughter. Haltingly, Anelia consented. Joseph escorted his daughter to the island himself, taking her on the ship he and his men crewed, and at last Alice was free to begin her journey.
Roleplay Sample:
On the bow of the ship, as the spray of the sea stained the wooden floorboards, and the sun glinted off the gems of Tentacool in the distance, Alice stood, eyes closed and face turned toward the sun. All around her the air felt alive, almost humming with electricity. Though, she supposed, this very well could be because her own excitement was catching. A grin split her face at the very thought, and not for the first time that morning, her chest swelled with pride and joy. This was it! At last she was beginning!
"Oh! Father! I see it!" she chirped delightedly, leaning onto the rail and pointing to the horizon, where a small smudge of black hinted that they drew close to the islands. Joseph gave a soft chuckle and waved an affirmation at his daughter. He too felt a wave of pride, though it was laced with sadness. When they docked, he would be saying goodbye to his only daughter for quite awhile, and suddenly was overcome by the urge to slow down the ship, even just a little, for a few more minutes with her.
But that, he knew, would not be fair to Alice. She had waited with bated breath for this day since he first told her the tale of his own Pok?mon journey. Dii, his Vaporeon and starter Pok?mon butted at his leg with a soft mew, as if sensing his distress. Joseph bent to give her a firm pat on the head. Dii had been his best friend since the moment she had been handed to him by Professor Elm, and he knew as much as he wished he could keep Alice home with him and his wife, he could never deny her the family and friendship Pok?mon could provide.
Down below, Alice again had her eyes closed. She breathed in deeply, trying to remember every sound, every scent on the wind. She never wanted to forget a single moment of this day, the day she began her own adventure. When her deep eyes opened, they were unusually sharp with determination.
She had finally arrived. [/blockquote]

Party
Cubone, Level 5 Name: Yorick Gender: M Ability: Rock Head Moves: Growl, Tail Whip, Double Kick Overworld Moves: - Personality: Most Cubone cry for their lost mother. This Cubone cries for that, and also for absolutely everything else. He's a sensitive little soul who is dreadfully lacking in self-confidence, so any insult can set him off and leave him down on himself for ages. Anything the least bit sad will bring tears to his eyes. On top of that, he's frightened of just about everything, and fear evokes hysterical tears from him. Peaceful, quiet, kind people that he is familiar with can sometimes calm him and help him to be more stable, but as of yet this effect has yet to linger without their constant presence.
