As soon as he had stepped onto the boat back in Olivine City, Arved knew his decision was a mistake. He had, of course, gone on small boats in the Lake of Rage, but it had been nothing like this. The constant rocking back and forth of the sea, it was almost more than he could handle. Despite his new-found seasickness, Arved decided that he had to go with his plan, he couldn't go back home after working so hard. Instead he just grit his teeth and hoped the boat ride would be over soon.
-----------------------------------
As soon as the S.S. Lupa had docked on Romulus Isle Arved tried to rush ashore, not wanting to spend a second longer than needed on that boat. Unfortunately, he was used to the rocking of the sea and promptly tripped down the walkway, earning him some snickers from some of the nearby sailors. Sighing slightly, Arved pushed himself up, readjusted his backpack, and found a bench to sit on. Once he was feeling better, he started to look around to try to figure out where to go next.
Eventually Arved decided to just get up and wander around on foot; sitting in one spot wasn't doing him much good. After walking around the port for a while Arved finally found a sign that pointed to where the lab was. Arved took a deep breath. This was finally the start of his journey. He was going to be a Pok?mon Trainer. Suddenly he felt anxious, but he quickly tried to stifle that feeling and headed up to the door of the lab and went in.

The Lab was certainly unique, in the way that it made someone feel right at home while still invoking that professional feeling in somebody. The warmth of the place was obvious, even if one could not really place where said warmth was coming from if they tried to find the source. Whatever the case was, the lab had a very welcoming sort of feel as Arved slipped into the lab. Upon an initial glance, one might have assumed that the Lab was unoccupied at the moment, which would have been an incorrect assumption indeed.
From his curled up position in a chair, facing away from the door and therefore hidden from view, the Sentret Morph flicked one ear, startling slightly and glancing up from his phone (of the perks that this job gave, this was probably what he enjoyed most, aside from being able to be around all the Pok?mon). He stood up almost too quickly, flailing his arms to avoid falling over. Then, with a sheepish, embarrassed little grin, the boy glanced towards the newcomer, the first new trainer that he had had the pleasure of helping.
This assistant in general looked very strange, and one could barely tell that he was a Sentret Morph at all upon first glance. His tail was long and flowy, and, more interestingly, all the hues of the rainbow, starting red at the tip and ending purple near the base. It was no doubt the result of a lot of bleach, dye, and time. The end result was rather beautiful. His hair had also been bleached to white, and the tips had been highlighted in various colors to match his tail. He looked quite comical paired with the coat that most of the lab assistants wore, especially since this coat in particular seemed to be three sizes too big for his frail little structure.
He walked up, all smiles, tail curling up pleasantly in greeting as he looked at Arved. Sensing that the other might be a little nervous, he waved, eyes bright and friendly, as if he hoped to soothe any fears that the other might have.
"Oh, hi there! I'm Tobias, and... well, uh, welcome to the Lab! I guess you're here for your first Pok?mon, right? Do you know which one you'd like? Oh, what's your name, by the way? What--" the boy broke off suddenly, eyes wide and embarrassed as a light flush spread across his cheeks. "Oh, I'm sorry, I talk too much sometimes... I just like being friendly!"

Arved instinctively took a small step backward when the lab assistant suddenly stood up. His nerves were still somewhat present and he hadn't expected someone to pop up like that. Arved had been about to give a greeting when two things almost simultaneously surprised him. The first thing was the rapid-fire greeting that Tobias launched at him. However, the second thing was the one that really threw Arved off, and that was the assistant's appearance. Namely his tail. However, Arved did manage to sputter out, "Uh erm." Unfortunately, that's all he managed to say. His brain seemed to be stuck on the tail part.
Arved's mind raced back to one of the books he had borrowed from Pryce when he was young. This particular book had talked about the history of interactions between humans and Pokémon. One of the things that had been mentioned in the book were crossbreeds of Pokémon and humans. When Arved had asked Pryce about them, the Gym Leader had stated that crossbreeds still lived in other regions, but there were none that he knew of in Johto or Kanto.
Suddenly, Arved realized that he was still standing in the lab, not saying anything. Once again he managed to stutter, "Oh, um I'm sorry. I've just never seen a crossbreed before. And uh, you're fine, no worries. My name is Arved and yeah, I'm here to get a Pokémon if that's alright." Suddenly, he realized he might have been extremely rude and added a quick "nice to meet you," while mentally kicking himself.

The young man seemed at a loss for a few, long moments, simply staring at Toby, who shifted awkwardly and curled his tail around his body nervously, not doing anything to make things less painfully awkward for either party. The male suspected that it might be a result of his rather... unique appearance. After all, he was pretty strange, even for a Morph, if only because of the dye job that he had given the most notable feature of his body. The boy paused for a moment before grinning, doing his best to dispel any nervousness. His mom had insisted that he get a job, after all, and if he wasn't confident, he'd almost certainly be fired.
Arved finally replied, and Toby felt a bit better simply because he seemed to share his nerves slightly. The term 'crossbreed' made one of his ears flick just a little bit more downward, though, as if the word sounded harsh, in a demeaning sort of way to the Sentret Morph. He hadn't ever really heard that term used before. Still, he did his best to ignore it, shaking it off and listening attentively ro Arved.
"Oh, well, do you know what you'd like? We have so many choices... really, anything that isn't rare or legendary is what we have. So, let me know what you want, and we'll more than likely have a few of that Pok?mon in stock." The Morph was, actually, slightly envious of the trainer. He was by no means brave enough to journey on his own, but he longed to have his own Pok?mon, if not for battling, for companionship. Curling his tail idly in thought, the Morph found himself lost in a miniature daydream, thinking of what starter he would pick if given the chance.

Unfortunately, Arved didn't seem to notice that his comments had hurt the Sentret Morph's feelings. If he had, Arved would have fallen over-himself trying to apologize to the other man. However since that was not the case, he instead started to focus on what Pok?mon he wanted to start his journey with and be partners with. He was immediately tempted to go with an Ice type as they were the ones he was most familiar with, but he quickly decided against it as he wanted to have somewhat of a challenge.
Suddenly, Arved remembered reading about the region of Unova and the Pok?mon that lived there. Apparently the Pok?mon that are found there are impossible to find in Johto and Kanto. Choosing a Pok?mon from there seemed like the perfect solution; he could pick a type that he was somewhat familiar with, maybe Fire or Fighting, and a Pok?mon that he knew little of.
Arved decided that it was the best course of action and opened his mouth, saying the name of the first Pok?mon that came to his mind that fit the description. "Uh, do you guys have any Timburr? I think I'd like to start with one of them."

As Toby waited for Arved to make his choice, the Sentret Morph hummed to himself. He had decided that he would have, no doubt, gone with a Skitty. After all, they were so /cute/, and not terrifying in the slightest... Toby might have been a wimp; but, he wasn't afraid to admit it. A cute, little cat seemed very preferable to a huge dragon or a monster with two or three heads.
He startled as Arved made his choice, pausing a moment to visualize the choice in his head (there were a lot of choices, after all). Timburr was certainly not a very popular pick... But, that was good! After all, if no one ever chose Timburr, the Pok?mon would only sit around the Lab, and that wasn't a very fun prospect. A grin spread across his face as he nodded boldly. "Alright, be back in a second!" The Morph vanished into the back.
As he returned a few minutes later, the boy held three Pokeballs in his one hand, shrunk down to make them less cumbersome to carry. In his other hand, he held an odd, black card, and a phone. He set the Pokeballs down on the table in front of him, along with the phone. "Alright, you have to pick one of these three Pokeballs... You can use your new phone to check out what each Pok?mon is like... It also has a Pokedex, and... phone stuff... it's pretty useful, I've heard! Oh, by the way, smile!"
The boy held up the black card, which made a snapping noise as it took a photo or Arved's face. The previously boring card burst into life with a photo of Arved, and a few blank areas where his name and age would be filled in. "Alright, just enter your information here... It should have Ƨ100 on it, unless you'd rather convert it to... Parsnips? Oh, no, Parsennes, sorry! It's... really important, since it's your ID and it has your money, so.. don't lose it, alright?"
Toby smiled warmly, pausing for only a moment to let all the information sink in before speaking again, "Alright, let me know if you need anything else... If not, good luck on your journey!"
[atrb=border,0,true]♀ Timburr, Lv 5 #1Scroll for more detailsThis Timburr is fairly powerful for being so young, and she damn well knows it. With a vicious, sadistic streak, the little Fighting-type Pok?mon lives for battle, and not much else. She thinks that she knows better than any other person or Pok?mon; and, if ordered around, one can be almost certain that she'll have a scathing remark to shoot back at the person who dared to commit such an act. It'll be next to impossible to curb her arrogance; but it is possible, with the proper trainer. Just be prepared for a lot of headaches and not much else. [/div][atrb=border,0,true] ♀ Timburr, Lv 5 #2Scroll for more detailsThis little Timburr seems to have an issue: she's terrified of causing pain. She's well aware that she's powerful, especially given her ability. However, she can't stand to see or hear pain. Fairly meek and quiet, she'll resist if given the orders to fight, only giving in when her trainer gives a forceful enough order to make her listen. However, hope is not lost. If one can cater to her and show her that battling isn't completely violent and needless, she might burst out of her current shell and change into a strong, yet compassionate battler. Name:- Ability:Sheer Force Moves:Pound, Leer, Focus Energy [/div][atrb=border,0,true] ♂ Timburr, Lv 5 #3Scroll for more detailsThis little guy has quite a tragic history. He was only three weeks old when his parents were horribly slaughtered in front of his very own eyes... or, at least, that's what he /thinks/ happened. It was really just a Gastly playing some sadistic prank with an illusion, but this little Timburr has never been the same. He doesn't seem to trust anything he sees, and has grown quite unstable, ranging from moments of apathy to moments of depression, and even to moments of anger and bitterness. Due to the illusion he saw involving a variety of Psychic-types and Normal-type Pok?mon, the sight of either type seems to be enough to fuel the rage within his soul. This Timburr planned to journey on his own before being captured for lab use. However, upon capture, he modified that goal. He wants to grow strong enough to defeat anyone that he might want to exert vengeance on. He's certainly a special individual, but someone with patience and understanding could still cope with him. After having his picture taken, somewhat unexpectedly, Arved gingerly picked up the phone that had been set on the table. From the information that Toby gave him, it sounded a lot like the Pokegear he'd seen some trainers use back in Johto, except with even more capabilities. Curious as to how it worked, Arved pressed a few buttons and quickly found the scanning capabilities with the built-in Pokedex.
He turned to aim the phone at different Pokeballs that had been placed on the table. He frowned slightly when he read about the first Timburr, this one just seemed like a brute, not exactly what he was looking for. The second was much more promising. While Arved was a good battler, it certainly wasn't everything to him, so he didn't care too much if his Pok?mon didn't like to fight. He almost felt bad about not wanting the third Timburr, but it sounded like that particular Pokémon had some issues and Arved wasn't sure if he would be the right one to help him.
Having made his choice, Arved reached over and took the Pokeball in the middle. "I think I'll take this one. And um, Soleres are fine. I think that's it though, thanks for your help." He quickly pocketed his new Phone and ID, and put the Pokeball in a side pocket in his backpack. With a casual wave, Arved turned around to head out of the lab.
//ooc: Sorry about the delay, I completely forgot >.> Am I good to continue to Verda Bridge then?
