[cs=2] [bg=cda7cd][atrb=border,0,true]PARSUS (LA PARSU’EIL) south SOLASTELLA Population: 19,400 Location: Spice Islet, around Lake Parsus, on the edge of Spice Meadows. Governor: Professor Eleanor Waterstone Demonym: Parsusi (Parsu’ellian) City GDP: Ƨ1,338.6 million GDP per Capita: Ƨ69,000 Formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Fezu, Spice Islet was once known as Fezu and Parsus was called La Parsu’eil. Although this name persists amongst some of the people in the town, it has since been Solastellicised to Parsus. Politically, it has often been the object of rows on the subject of independence from Solastella, and there is a growing nationalist streak amongst Parsusi - Eleanor Waterstone has constantly pushed for greater independence, though Agnes Herald has opposed such moves. Once dominating all of South Solastella, including Acero Isle, it is now a relative minnow politically, despite its high level of development. | |
Parsus’s position on Spice Islet (burgundy), and in the former Kingdom of Fezu (lilac) | History The earliest evidence of settlement on Spice Islet dates back to the 6th century, when the settlement of Lapzeig was founded, probably by explorers and settlers from Menes. Lapzeig, settled as the capital of the island, then known as Fezu. Written records from the time are difficult to come by, but it is generally agreed amongst scholars that by the 11th century, Lapzeig and Fezu had developed a significant sphere of influence. It was at this time that Lapzeig’s population began to grow, reaching approximately 34,000 by 1032. In 1040, Fezu incorporated Acero Isle and changed its name to La Parsu’eil, to more accurately reflect the language of Fezan, which was the de facto medium of communication in Fezu at the time. |

Primarily a tourist town, Parsus stretches from the glittering shores of the Spice Islet straight to the edge of the Spice Meadows. The town does not have much in the way of industry or big firms, with many people being employed either by one of the big Spice Houses or by in shops selling trinkets. The town is filled with sweet smells during the summer and autumn as the spice matures and wafts its scent over the nearby area.
Parsus has a long history, being originally been home to the kingdom of Fezu, with Fezan still being spoken widely on the island. After Fezu was conquered by Solastellans in the year 1789, the island was renamed Spice Islet and La Parsu’eil’s name was Solestallicised to Parsus. Politically it has often been the object of rows on the subject of independence from Solastella, and it remains a key issue at elections for governorship. The city has been noted by many across the region for being highly developed, with one of the highest GDP per capita figures in Solastella. Nonetheless, the population of the town has been steadily decreasing, almost at the same rate as productivity increases, meaning the economy has largely been still for the last decade. Nonetheless, it remains wealthy, even if other areas are growing faster.
