It was nearly dark before Destiny reached the grassy enclosure in front of a big building, which was the laboratory, as it said on a sign stationed next to the entrance. "Please still be open, please still be open", she thought while slowing down her pace and stopping immediately at the front. Wind blew against her pink hair which the evening sky adjusted to a soft orange, similar to the sea. Destiny gripped the leather strip of her cross-body purse which lay down to her waist side, and took a few steps to the laboratory's entrance.
She wasn't good with introductions, especially for adults, so she anxiously played with a curl of her hair, hoping that things will turn out okay. Before she knocked on the door, she took a deep breath, imagining what the professor would be like. "What am I thinking? I'm supposed to be good at introductions" , thought Destiny while making a reassuring face. But then another thought came to mind, and it was how her knowing of the language Solastellan, the native language of Solastella. Her Solastellan language wasn't so...good. The only thing she could remember was how to say hello, but that was just about the only thing she could pronounce right. But she had to get a Pokémon. She had to get it today, and today only, no cowering or going back. Though her pause was dramatic, and she didn't feel like looking like an idiot in front of the great professor, so she silently rehearsed. "Olleh. Is that how you pronounce it?", Destiny asked herself, and then vigorously shook her head. The questions in her head and her constant overreacting for something so simple made her procrastinate. It was already getting late, and the sun was looking tired, as if it was trying to stay awake and make the day longer. She then took a deep breath and thought positive thoughts. After a few minutes of mental notes, she reached out her arm and knocked a few times on the hard, wood door, then patiently waited for a response. In her mind she was thinking of what Pokémon she was going to get and adventures way ahead of where she was now.

"Yeah, Tai, I'm right here. Here, no need to worry, tell everyone they don't need to worry, alright?" said a young man leaning against the Pokémon lab's desk into his cell phone. He had deep bags under his eyes, but with his almond shaped green-blue eyes, messy blond hair and strong, elegant body structure he was undeniably handsome.
He jumped a little at the knock on the door, nearly dropping his phone.
"Hey, Tai, just a minute, I've got someone at the door, I'll just put the phone down for a second -" he stopped speaking for a moment and then continued the soothing words, "Okay, it's okay, I'll keep the phone on then. But you need to be quiet and good for me, okay? So that I can keep the phone on. You'll hear everything I say, but I won't be able to talk to you and everyone much."
With this the young man opened the door with the hand wasn't currently occupied.
"Hi," he said on seeing the young, adorable looking girl in front of him, "I'm Tam, and this is the Romulus Pokémon Lab. Sorry about the cell phone; my Pokémon get lonely when I'm away at night, but I had to take this shift."
Tam stopped speaking after that, aware that most people didn't want to hear about his problems. He hoped he wasn't frightening the girl; she seemed nervous and he was taller than her, and a guy....and standing in the doorway.
"Sorry, sorry," Tam said, feeling even worse as he stepped back into the lab and returned to his place by the desk, "Is there anything I can do for you?"

As the sun cascaded in the distance, Destiny felt more out of place as she stood waiting on the doorstep. Maybe she was too late, and had lost her privilege of going to the laboratory, or maybe the people inside didn't want to open the door, because they knew it was just a young girl that wasn't important to them at the moment. Before she could think any more discouraging thoughts, the door to the laboratory flew open and indoor air pleasantly approached her.
Out came an adult who seemed to be busy with somebody on the phone. He greeted himself, and politely mentioned his name to Destiny, who was smiling cheerfully at his appearance. She was happy that the lab wasn't closed for now and that she was one step closer to getting her first Pok?mon. Who wouldn't be excited?
While the door was open, Destiny could get a glimpse of what it looked like inside of the Pok?mon lab. There was many devices, all of which might be used to examine Pok?mon, and also many different capture devices. They all looked complicated and out of her range of thought, but it did look very interesting.
When the adult, who went by the name Tam, asked of what Destiny needed, she swiftly changed her glance back to him.
"Ummmm", she said in her most sweetest tone. "I was wondering if could get a Pok?mon to start my adventure." She clasped her hands together, and slowly shifted a bit to add in to her effective way of begging. She then looked around to see if they had the Pok?mon she was looking for specifically.
" I really want a Growlithe. I've heard they make great companions", Destiny added, knowing that he'll ask her what species anyways, sooner or later.

"Right," Tam said as brightly as possible, her heart sinking at the cuteness she was employing. He hoped she wasn't trying to get him to give her an eevee. So many trainers wanted one and tried to get one, convinced the lab was hiding them somewhere, but they were far too rare and expensive for the lab to have access to them. "Oh, a growlithe?" he asked, relieved and failing to hide it, "Don't worry, that's fine. Just let me go and get them and you can choose one, okay?" Tam turned and hurried out into the back of the lab, running through the garden until he was in front of a shed fire Pokémon often slept it. Luck was with him, because he found all three growlithe curled up in the shed and gathered them into his arms, calming their grumbling complaints with a quick mention that a trainer wanted to see them. One of the growlithe was already awake and followed him without saying anything. Tam walked back into the lab with his best smile, even though he was carrying two growlithe in one arm and appeared somewhat frazzled. He set the two Pokémon on the ground with the third. The first one blinked up at destiny sleepily, the second yawned, exposing a red mouth and sharp white teeth, and the third simply watched attentively. "Those are our growlithe," Tam said proudly as he reached into the desk drawer to grab a trainer card and phone, snapping a picture of the trainer as he did so, "They're a little sleepy right now. You can scan them with this. This is where it stores your money and all your identity, so don't lose it." As Tam spoke he handed a small red phone to the girl and then a sleek black card. [atrb=border,0,true]♀ Growlithe, Level 5 #1Scroll for more details[Name] has the good fortune of both a sweet nature and a calm mind. She adores exploring and finding new things, though she can be a little shy about meeting new people. She tends to snuggle and adores being held. [Name] is hopelessly loyal and endlessly devoted. Destiny lightly nodded and waited calmly inside the lab's entrance. It was an interesting place to be right now, but she tried her best to not be too nosy about the area she was in. It was so technologically advanced that it made her old town look like an ancient settlement. This was the place where a girl like Destiny should of been born at; not the rustic area that she was raised in for most of her life. Of course, the Pokémon that lived there was already a blessing enough, but Solastella had way more Pokémon than she's ever seen in one day.
When the lab assistant came back, he showed her the cute canine Pokémon that were as lively as she expected. The Growlithe were scratching behind their ears, running around chasing their tails, or sniffing the different atmosphere. Destiny smiled and knelt down to pet one of Growlithe's head. It was a soft, and well groomed feeling, which gave Destiny a nostalgic feeling of the Lillipups that used to live near her home.
"Hello there", greeted Destiny to the Growlithe that yawned deeply. It looked cute with its little sleepy attitude and she rubbed the puppy's back gently. It was one advantage to being around dog-like Pokémon such as Lillipup for the rest of her life, but it was another advantage of being a Pokemorph, because you have a sort of impression of how the Pokémon is feeling at times when ordinary humans don't understand.
The dog was cute and funny to Destiny's taste, but she caught her glance to the one that sat attentively on the hard lab floor. It didn't seem to be playing around or scratching its fur, but rather sitting there as if waiting to be ordered to do something. She stared at the Growlithe, which stared at her back, and it almost seemed like a staring contest. "Awwww, this one is so cute!" Destiny finally said and went over to pet the loyal Growlithe.
When the lab assistant showed Destiny the shining red phone and sleek black card, she took them carefully and examined them, flashing the two items in the light from a nearby window. "Thank you so much!" said Destiny happily, and stored them in her purse which held all of her precious belongings. She turned her attention back to the Growlithe and looked at the one loyal pup. She smiled at him, and then told Tam her final decisions.
"I think I'll have the second one", she said while pointing at the Growlithe. "They're all very nice Pok?mon, but I think this one suits me well."

Tam watched the girl play with the Pok?mon, his eyes on them but his mind far away. He was wondering what his own Pokémon were doing and if he would come home to a destroyed house. He was hoping that they weren't too upset with him and that he'd never have to take a shift at night again. Ghost Pokémon were active at night and they wanted him to be nearby. Too many of his own Pokémon had been left by trainers before and Tam was far too aware that none of them really believed he would be keeping them. Tam made sure to breathe extra loudly into the phone and hoped that the girl hurried up a little, then felt bad for the hope. She was making one of the most important decisions of her life and she should take her time.
"You like him then?" Tam asked, though it wasn't really a question, "Okay, well here's his pokeball. Take care and feel free to come back anytime."
He gave her a pokeball with his brightest grin. He had hoped that she would choose either the second or third growlithe, as the first one seemed content to stay in the lab as long as needed.
The other, quiet growlithe looked sad, but turned to walk away without any fuss. After one glance at the new trainer, the first growlithe followed.

She took the capture device and looked down at the Growlithe who looked very civilized as he sat down patiently, waiting for his new trainer's commands. He didn't move an inch after that, except the fact that his body was moving a little bit as his big, fluffy tail wagged. Its brown eyes met up with Destiny as she held the Pokeball securely in one hand.
"Grow!" the Growlithe barked, and he then jumped over and on to Destiny who wasn't expecting the Pok?mon's uncertain outbreak. It licked her face, while Destiny tried her best to get the wily Pok?mon inside, but she stopped to scratch the dog. He was soft and fluffy, and completely loving to the touch, and Destiny was so happy to own her very own Pok?mon for the first time. Who would of known a girl like her would pick a loyal yet energetic pup, but it seemed that the Growlithe and her took a complete liking at the start.
"Okay, okay, time for you to go in your Pokeball!" said Destiny while trying to calm him down. The Growlithe immediately stopped, surprisingly for Destiny, and he hopped on to the ground to be safely discarded inside of the Pokeball. She smiled at him. " I think I'll call you Vali, actually, Valiant. The name means loyal." The Growlithe, now subbed by Vali, smiled and disappeared in a flash of red light.
The middle, white part of the Pokeball glowed red, until settling and flashing a quick, white light that notified of the capture. She placed the Pokeball with her first ever Pok?mon, on her belt that held up to no more than six Pokeballs. The feeling of having a Pok?mon was great, and Destiny showed it off with a soft "yay" and a cute smile. She looked at the assistant, who looked a bit on the impatient side, and she smiled, showing her small white teeth.
"Thank you Mister Professor!" said Destiny and that was the last thing she said before waving a good-bye. It was all good. She got a Pok?mon. She didn't have to wait until tomorrow. She didn't look stupid when she waited on the front steps, and it was 12 A.M. Sudden, but true, and the bright shining moon settled a soft reflection on the ocean nearby. Destiny's next stop would be Verda Bridge on the Twin Isles, where she'll start her adventure with her new companion.
