Soleres and Parsennes
Solastella technically has two currencies, rather than one, as the result of a rather tricky political situation. The Dezu empire, which was based in what is now Spice Islet and spread across other major islands in the South, has traditionally used Parsennes. Since the union of the northern islands with the southern ones, the use of this currency has remained contentious.
Although officially, Soleres are the only forms of currency in Solastella, some shops, particularly in southern islands such as Acero Isle and Spice Islet, accept both currencies. Where nationalistic feeling is high, the shopkeeper may instead accept only Parsennes. If you require a currency exchange, you may apply to the Bureau de Change at any time, and they will happily change your currency depending on the going exchange rate.
The Parsenne is traditionally less valuable than the Solere, though the currency is appreciating very quickly. The central authority of the Parsenne, the Bank of Dezu, was formerly based in Parsus (Parsu’eil) but is now located in Acero City - where it uses rare metals mined on the isle to mint new coins.
It is possible, if you play your cards correctly, to make a lot of money through the exchange rate mechanism. You simply buy Parsennes or Soleres when the exchange rate is low and sell them back when the exchange rate is high.
The symbol for a Solere is Ƨ, the symbol for a Parsenne is Ƹ. Neither is subdivided - the smallest unit of currency is Ƨ1 or Ƹ1.
